Hey guys! Peeve here...so SunlightBlade and myself have a very unique opportunity here. We're able to play as much of the DkS3 demo as we like while we're here at Gamescom in Germany.
What i need from you guys is suggestions on what to test. Things we've figured out so far:
Ravioli is RIP
Reverse roll seems to be RIP
Dead angles RIP (although, i believe it may need online to work anyway)
Toggle escapes RIP
Poise cannot be determined (if it's there, it seems too low in the demo...getting staggered by arrows)
Hyper Armor seems to be back (not surprised)
No inventory/stats in demo, so anything related to that cannot be tested
Backstab window MAY have been trimmed down...i really cannot tell, even while testing on non-aggressive enemies. I'd be willing to say that if DkS1 had a +-60 degree backstab cone, DkS3 feels like +-40 degrees.
Parries feel/look exactly like DkS1 (thank God)
Exhausting your stamina does not cause slower swing speed
*To-be tested:
Try to switch weapons after parrying to riposte (should work fine)
Counter damage
Amount of potential follow-ups (long R1/R2 string combos in BB for example)
Estus speed/recovery (seems similar to DkS1, but follow-up swigs felt faster like DkS2...will double-check)
Mid-swing Sword Art combos (similar to mid-swing BB transformations...doubt it works due to changing stance)
So that's about all i can think of off the top of my head of what we tested/noticed and what we plan to test.
We shouldn't have too much of an issue getting as much access to DkS3 as we need while we're here, so find all the gameplay you can and dissect it to bits. If there's something that you need/want tested, now's the time to speak up!
I think we've covered most of everything testable at the moment, but if there's anything urgent that we're forgetting, let us know. If it's something super-trivial, we probably won't worry about it.
No guarantees, but we'll see what we can do!
Also, there's a good chance we'll be allowed to record with our phones, so we may have some gameplay to back it all up for you guys (i brought a PVR, laptop, and cables in case they gave us the go-ahead, but direct recording isn't gonna be possible here unfortunately).
Thanks in advance!
